PADUA – VENETIAN VILLAS – COLLI EUGANEI
Breakfast. At 09.30 h, meet with the bus and your tour guide and departure to visit the Venetian Villas, the extraordinary summer residences that the great families of Venice built between the 16th and 19th century, in perfect harmony with nature, in the countryside near the Serenissima (Venice), and in particular in the province of Vicenza. The high concentration of villas in this area may well be due to the presence of architect Andrea Palladio from Padua (1508-1580), who designed them with classical and elegant features intended to fascinate the whole world.
You will see for example the famous “Villa Pisani” (only from the outside), known as “La Rocca Pisana”. Started in 1576 by Scamozzi, it stands alone on a hill like the Rotonda Palladiana, which, however, it does not imitate, since it solves in its own, quite original way the problem of interior spaces, by playing with lights and shadows. From the large windows, one can catch breathtaking glimpses of the landscape.
After the visit, transfer to the Colli Euganei area, the first Natural Park in the Veneto Region, a beautiful wildlife park, where you can visit a winery, taste their products and also have lunch including: appetizer, two first courses (of hand-made “pasta”), second course, dessert and drinks (6 different types of wines). After lunch, transfer to the little city of Monselice for a guided tour.
Return to Padua. Rest of the afternoon and dinner at leisure. Overnight in hotel in Padua.
