Before arriving in Trieste and discovering the history of this city, we will visit Venice, the open-air museum city, renowned across the world for its unique and thousand-year-old history.

The programme
Venice – Grado or Lignano
Arrival in Venice and guided tour of the city (2 hours). Lunch at leisure.
In the afternoon, transfer to Grado or Lignano, check in, dinner and overnight.
Trieste
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to Trieste, meet with the guide and visit of the city: Risiera di San Sabba, the only Nazi extermination camp in Italy; Borgo Teresiano, to admire its characteristic neoclassical buildings, the Greek-Orthodox church of Saint Nicholas and Piazza Unità d’Italia, the largest square in Europe that opens on the sea.
Lunch at leisure.
In the afternoon, guided tour of Miramare Castle.
Back to Grado or Lignano. Time at leisure. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Trieste
Breakfast. Transfer by bus for a guided tour of the Foibe of Basovizza, National Monument, a disused mine shaft – one of many natural caves scattered around the Karst Plateau near Trieste – scene of executions of thousands of Italian civilians and soldiers, around 1945.
Lunch at leisure.
Back to Trieste and visit of Kleine Berlin, a network of underground air-raid shelter galleries built by the German troops.
Time at leisure. Back to Grado or Lignano.
Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Aquileia
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure for Aquileia, the “second Rome”.
Meet with the guide and visit of the archaeological site.

– 3 nights in a 3* hotel in Grado or Lignano; accommodation in multiple rooms with en suite facilities for students and single rooms for teachers. Half-board, water included;
– guide for 2 hours in Venice and guided tours in Trieste;
