The programme
Departure by private bus to Trieste. Stops at leisure along the way and packed lunch from home.
Upon arrival, guided tour of the Grotta Gigante (Giant Cave), which features in the Guinness Book of Records as the “tourist cave with the largest chamber in the world”. The symbol of Karst underground territory is open for tourist and school guided tours all year round.
After the visit, time at leisure in the city centre, check-in at the hotel, dinner and overnight.
Breakfast. Meet with the guide and visit of Trieste’s Synagogue (subject to confirmation) and Carlo and Vera Wagner Jewish Museum. After the visit, transfer by bus to Foiba of Basovizza, National Monument. Visit at leisure and back to Trieste.
In the afternoon, a visit to Risiera di San Sabba, sadly renowned for being the only Nazi concentration camp in Italy.
After the visit, transfer to Miramare Castle for a guided tour of the Castle and the Park. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
NOTE: the Synagogue is closed on Fridays and Saturdays.
Breakfast. Transfer by bus to the Redipuglia Memorial, located on the western side of Mount Sei Busi, which during the First World War was fiercely contended because, even if not very high, it offered and advantage point over the access from the West to the Karst Plateau. Redipuglia Memorial hosts the remains of 100,187 soldiers who fell in battle during the First World War: 39,857 known and 60,330 unknown. Visits can also be arranged to see the Great War Museum “Casa III Armata” comprising an entrance hall and four rooms. In one of the rooms visitors can watch a film on the Twelve Battles of Isonzo.
Transfer to Dolina dei Bersaglieri for a visit and walk along the old trenches.

The price includes:
– 2 nights in a 3* hotel including breakfast, dinner and overnight accommodation;
– 4 free single rooms for teaches and driver;
– admission to the Synagogue;
– admission, guided tour and workshop at the Grotta Gigante;
– AMI FILODIRETTO medical, luggage and civil liability insurance.
The price does not include:
– private bus hire;
– extra drinks at meals;
– personal extras;
– anything not included in “The price includes”;
– hotel deposit: €10.00 per person, which will be returned providing no damage and no disturbance is caused during the night;
– audio guide at Miramare Castle (€1 per person).
